Is it actually possible for a society to be sustainable? Has there been a sustainable society yet in the history of this world? The Fertile Crescent I don’t believe was. Venice certainly is not. I society that only survived by bartering and trading. There was no agriculture there and virtually plagued with the negative aspects of the water which completely surrounds every structure. Is it even possible for a city to be sustainable?

Yeah, poker... ok.

So what does sustainable mean? That a human can live off of the land without manipulating it? or a society can do the same? I really don't know. what's your definition?

sustainablility has a lot of meanings actually...sort of confusing, but it is something that lasts. For example the Walt Disney Company is a very sustainable company. And it not only has to last but it has to be forward thinking, visionaries, reuse, resource, teamwork, must be successful, flexible, adaptable, accountability and responsibilty have a lot to do with must have independence and take risk. i'll have other examples in the future.
